The Jungle Theater opens next season with "Venus in Fur," a Broadway sensation from 2011. Anna Sundberg will star as an actor who seduces (theatrically) a director who is looking for the perfect woman to play a role in his new play. Peter Hansen portrays the director. Those two were excellent in Gremlin's "After Miss Julie." Nina Arianda became a cause celebre in the role, winning the Tony Award for Best Actress. Joel Sass directs the play, written by David Ives. It runs Feb. 1-March 10.

Bain Boehlke brings the chestnut "Deathtrap" to the stage, March 29-May 19. Ira Levin's 1978 play holds the record for longest-running comedy thriller on Broadway. The intricate plot has more twists than a box of Fusilli pasta. Steven Hendrickson stars, along with Cheryl Willis and Michael Booth.

John Command must have impressed Boehlke with "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" in 2011, because the veteran director has been asked back to stage "Urinetown," the darkly funny and offbeat musical. It was a huge Broadway hit and did a national tour. Bradley Greenwald (at left), so good in "Forum," will lead the cast. It runs from June 7-Aug. 4.

Boehlke will reprise Sam Shepard's "Fool For Love," to kick off next fall's season, Sept. 6-Oct. 20. Terry Hempleman revisits the role of Eddie, which he played in the 1996 Jungle production. Jennifer Blagen and Allen Hamilton also star.

The Jungle year concludes, Nov. 8-Dec. 22 with Alfred Uhry's "Driving Miss Daisy." Wendy Lehr will portray Daisy Werthen, an independent widow who reluctantly hires a chauffeur because of her age. Boehlke will direct and the role of the driver has not yet been cast.
