Ordway books Latin jazz sensation

Mexico-born diva Magos Herrera, the Grammy-nominated Latin jazz sensation, is coming to St. Paul's Ordway Center Oct. 28.

The singer and bandleader melds classic jazz with Latin and other influences. Her style is informed by bolero, bossa nova and Cuban sones, .
 
“Magos is known for her diverse, emotional and vibrant musical tones and we are delighted to offer this talented performer to Twin Cities’ audiences," said Patricia A. Mitchell, Ordway’s president and CEO.
 
Herrera has performed with Bobby McFerrin and Bill Frisell, and on such esteemed stages as the Montreal Jazz Festival and at Lincoln Center. At the Ordway, she will select from her six albums, including "Distancia."
