A 31-year-old Canadian man has been identified as the scuba diver who died Friday in St. Louis County, authorities said.
Justin James Cyril Swan of the province of Alberta was diving with a partner at Pike Lake in Canosia Township when he disappeared beneath the surface after asking for help getting up on a dock, the Sheriff's Office said.

His diving partner pulled him out of the water, and emergency responders arrived at 10:23 a.m. But lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. Swan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of death was under investigation.
