Performing at the Dakota Jazz Club last week, Rosanne Cash previewed her October CD "The List," featuring selections from a list of 100 essential country songs that her father, Johnny Cash, gave her when she turned 18. Among the guest singers on "The List" is Elvis Costello, who is always on Cash's list. She is "loving" his new album, "Secret, Profane and Sugarcane."
"It's a humbling and exciting experience to have a Brit show us what is great about being an American musician. These complex but accessible melodies and rich lyrics are immensely satisfying. And what a great band -- lot of old friends in there, playing at the top of their game. And so is Elvis."
