8 a.m. update: Holiday weekend appears to have started for many

Only a couple of small crashes during the morning commute. Freeways are flowing without incident at this hour.

Most of the Twin Cities metro system is free-flowing at this hour as many commuters have apparently decided a four-day weekend if preferable to three. Expect a slowdown later today as many head north for the Memorial Day weekend.
