Word of the week: festivication

February 7, 2017 at 3:52PM

Definition: Decorative items associated with holidays (Merriam-Webster Online).

Sample usage: "If you haven't taken down your festivications by now, you might as well tell people the evergreen sprigs are for St. Patrick's Day."

Popularity: Sometimes you don't need a new word because the old one works just fine. If you say, "Let's take down the decorations," no one says, "What are you talking about?" If you say, "Let's take down the festivications," then they'd say, "What are you talking about?"
