Word of the week: autocowrong

January 10, 2017 at 2:46PM

Definition: Your phone autocorrects your spelling, but gives you a word you didn't want.

Sample usage: "Dang it, I am a DJ at WROK, so when I'm at work I'm WROKing, but the phone changes it to working! So frustrating."

Popularity: It looks like "Auto Cow Rong," which in turn looks like a poorly translated item on a Chinese menu. Sounds like "Audokarong," which could be a Malaysian appetizer. We need a word for this, but this one isn't good enough.

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020.
