It has been said many times that football is a team sport.

With the ongoing tragedy that is the Minnesota Vikings this season, and with continuing episodes of individual ego maladies in sports, I couldn't help noticing the recent listings of the Minnesota High School All-State football teams -- a recognition of outstanding individual accomplishments.

Wayzata High School emerged as the state's Class 5A champion this year. Yet when the 26 players were announced, only one Wayzata individual was named.

What a shining example of team effort and success. Congratulations to Coach Brad Anderson, his staff and all the young men on that team.

It seems they have instilled the embodiment and philosophy of that basic premise: team effort.

They all should be very proud of their beliefs and accomplishment, as are their countless fans and admirers.
