about the trip: "The exchange began in 1974 and is the longest-running military exchange partnership between any two nations. The yearly exchange promotes goodwill and sharpens military readiness between the nations as well as providing opportunities for cultural understanding among its participants," public affairs officer Maj. Scott Ingalsbe wrote in an e-mail when he sent the photo. While in Norway, 100 Minnesota National Guard soldiers train with the Norwegian Home Guard. They also visit cultural sights and spend a weekend with a Norwegian family. Norwegian soldiers do the same here, training at Camp Ripley.
