MADISON, Wis. — The doctor injured when an ambulance crashed in Fond du Lac County this week has died.

UW Health officials say Dr. Stanley Phillips died Thursday night of injuries suffered when the ambulance hit a culvert and flipped on its side near Rosendale Wednesday. Three other medical workers were injured. One of the three remains hospitalized.

The 32-year-old doctor had just started a pediatric fellowship this month at UW Hospital and Clinics. The ambulance was on its way to Appleton to transport a baby to Meriter Hospital in Madison for surgery by a specialist.

The Reporter Media (http://fondul.ac/12lvz6g ) says the mobile intensive care ambulance transfers 60 to 80 babies each year to Madison from other parts of the state.
