Moshe Halbertal is a noted Israeli philosopher associatedwith the intellectual left in Israel. He is a professor of Jewish Thought andPhilosophy at Hebrew University, a senior Fellow at the Shalom HartmanInstitute in Jerusalem,and a faculty member at the Mandel Leadership Institute.
Professor Halbertal, according to his article in The New Republic, "The GoldstoneIllusion: What the U.N. Report gets wrong about Gaza– and war," has since 2000 participated in an analysis of the moral issues thatIsraelconfronts in the face of terrorism.Professor Halbertal has shared in this work with philosophers, lawyers,and generals towards drafting the Israel Defense Force's ethics code.
