The people who turned down knighthood, either because they felt they didn't deserve the honor or thought the whole thing was a load of bollocks in the first place, include Malcolm McDonnell, Yeats, Bowie, Ralph Vaughn Williams, and others. Not one was an "up themselves fool," either.
