Severe Weather Returns Today

A new round of severe weather will target the nation's southern midsectionlater today into tonight. The latest storm to emerge from the Rockies willtrigger the intense thunderstorms. Tornadoes are amongst the threats of thestrongest thunderstorms.The severe thunderstorms will erupt this afternoon in between Chanute, Kan.,and Houston, Texas. The thunderstorms will push over the lower MississippiValley tonight. The cities of Springfield, Mo.; Little Rock, Ark.; Memphis,Tenn.; and Shreveport, La., will be threatened.

Any of the tornadoes that touch down could cause destruction and threatenlives. The potential for the tornadoes to turn deadly increases at night.

People may sleep through warnings or tornado sirens. Motorists will have a hardtime seeing the twisters.

The strongest thunderstorms will also be capable of producing damagingwinds, window-shattering hail and blinding downpours. Anyone at risk fortoday's severe weather is strongly urged to take immediate action if astorm-related warning is issued for your area.
