Robert L. ``Bob'' Geib, age 77, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2002 at his home in Minnetrista after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence & Dorothy Geib; brother, Clarence Jr.; sister, Mary Louise Lewis & husband Larry. Bob was born on May 4, 1925, in West Bend, WI. He graduated from St. Mel's Military Academy in Chicago, IL, and earned an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a pioneer of solid-state electronics in hearing aids, and in 1953 developed the first transistorized hearing aid, the Miracle Ear, for MAICO Hearing. He remained well-known in the hearing aid industry the rest of his career with Zenith, Motorola and Dahlberg companies. In 1968 he founded HEI (Hybrid Electronics, Inc.) in Chaska, MN. He built a second plant in Sauk Center, MN, for which he was awarded Small Business of the Year by then-Governor Al Quie. He built a new plant in Victoria, MN and retired as President and CEO in 1985. He continued his career as a Consultant to several businesses from that time until his death. Survived by beloved wife, Luanne; sons, Robert J. (Patricia), Thomas (Laura), James (Bonne); and daughters, Carol Ann Geib, and Mary Shackle (Thomas); grandchildren, Robert A., Katherine, Jessica, Carl, Jennifer and Gretchen Geib, Bryan, Angela and Ashley Shackle; also by brothers, Henry (Brenda) Geib, Thomas Geib; sisters, Carolee Borntreger, Cherrie (Richard) Larson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also survived by step-children, James (Linda), R. Michael, David (Michelle) Filippi, and Jane (Allen) Gislason; step-grandchildren, John (Christine) Filippi, AnneMarie (Casey) Kniser, Suzanne (Cuong) Pham, Rebecca (Michael) Sciarra, Rachel, Anthony, Elliana and Connor Filippi; step-great-grandchildren, Justin and Kyle Pham, Joseph and Sarah Filippi, Andrew Kniser and Alessandro Sciarra. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, November 19, 2002, at 11 AM, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 2385 Commerce Blvd, Mound, MN 55364 (952-472-1284). Visitation Monday, 5-8 PM, with prayer service at 7 PM, Huber Funeral Home, Mound. Visitation also 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Interment at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery, Minnetrista.
