John (Johnny) Ruter

Ruter John (Johnny), age 80, formerly of Brooten, MN, peacefully departed this life on Nov. 11, 2002. He was born Nov. 4, 1922 to the Lucas and Weike (De Vries) Ruter family of Renville. John was married to Evelyn (Warren) on Aug. 14, 1949 in St. Paul. The marriage ended in divorce. On Jan. 3, 1970, John married his second wife, Dorothy (Cain) in St. Paul. They had one son, Thomas. Although this second marriage eventually ended in divorce, John and Dorothy remained close friends with one another. John is survived by one son, Thomas of St. Paul; ex-wife & special friend, Dorothy Cain of St. Paul; brothers, Henry Ruter of Sauk Centre, George and Claus Ruter, both of Belgrade; sisters, Ella Guyer of Las Vegas, Ann Knutson of South St. Paul, Jeanette Ruter of Olivia, and Vivian Ruter of Spicer. Funeral service 10 am Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002 at the Union Presbyterian Church, Brooten, MN. Visitation at church one hour before service. Burial Fairview Cemetery, Renville. John's parents, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
