Youngren Ethel Irene Youngren (nee Hibbison), age 97, died Thursday, Oct. 24 at North Ridge Care Center in New Hope, MN. Ethel was born Dec. 7, 1904 on the family's farm in Cannistota, SD, and grew up on their own farm near Miller, SD, where she shared the many chores required for a self-sustaining farm family of nine. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Youngren; by son, Ronald Youngren; 4 brothers (Art, Mark, George, Ben); and 2 sisters (Alice Filbert, Florence Brown). Surviving are daughters, Dolores Bergstand of Minneapolis, and Mary Cammarata & husband Jack of Plymouth, MN; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Imbued with the love and care of flowers from childhood, she created beauty wherever she lived. In later life, she worked for Walter and Lorraine Bergstrand in their Bergstrand Florist Shop on Chicago & Franklin Avenues in Minneapolis. The love and affection of family, friends, and caregivers alike can be summed up as one nephew stated: ``She embodied unconditional love.'' Memorials may be given to the Home Free Shelter (a women's shelter), c/o Mary Cammarata, 15740 Rockford Rd., #220, Plymouth, MN 55446. The funeral service will be Monday, Oct. 28 at 3:00 PM, at the Edina Chapel of the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave S., Edina, MN, with a private interment.
