Dorothy L. Nelson

Nelson Dorothy L., 94, died at Pillsbury Manor, South the morning of Sept. 12, 2002. She was a res. of Pillsbury Manor for 6 years and the family is grateful for the loving care that she received during her stay. She was born on Nov. 4, 1907 in Mpls., MN the daughter of John & Hester (Violet) Smith. She attended Central High School and was active in the Maryknoll Missionary Society all of her life. Her life's occupation was her family. She devoted herself to raising her 2 sons and caring for her husband as well as helping with the care of 2 of her grandchildren while her sons completed their degrees at the Univ. of MN. Mom was always there to help when called upon by a member of her family. She lived 88 years in Mpls. & Edina prior to her move to VT in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Nelson; and her son, Thomas P. Nelson. She is survived by her son, Gary D. Nelson & his wife Noel of Shelburne, VT; her daughter-in-law, Bridget Nelson of Roseville, CA; her sister, B.J. Larson & her husband John of Orono, MN. In addition she will be lovingly remembered by her 6 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Church (Episcopal) Shelburne Village, Route 7, Shelburne on Sat., Sept. 28, 2002 at 1:30 PM. A memorial service will be held in Mpls., MN in Oct. of this year. Memorials may made in Dorothy's name to the Vermont Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 45 Swift St., So.
