Michael T. Hoekstra, age 52, of Deephaven, died from major complications of a heart attack on September 16, 2002. He was born in St. Cloud on May 29, 1950, the son of Chester J. and Donna M. Houbolt Hoekstra. He graduated from the University of Minnesota's School of Law and later established his real estate law practice in Wayzata. His law practice continued until his death. He is survived by his son, Alex; mother, Donna (Milt) Anderson of Buffalo; brothers, Gary Hoekstra of Riverside, California & Alan (Carol) Hoekstra of Buffalo; a niece, Michelle Hoekstra; Alex's mom: Becky and her family; 3 step-brothers; a step-sister; several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester on June 5, 1985; grandparents and uncles. Mike loved nature. Alex was not only his son but also his best buddy. They enjoyed shopping for sporting goods and then using their new equipment camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, and skiing. In recent years, Mike became an avid and accomplished golfer. He spent many hours with fellow attorney, Paul Chamberlain on the course and made new friends easily while playing his favorite game. Memorial Service 6 PM TODAY, Evangelical Covenant Church, 1601 Hwy. 25 North, in Buffalo. Friends may greet the family TODAY at the church one hour prior to service.
