Johnson, Wallace M. (Wally) Age 92 of Minnetonka was born in Mpls and grew up in the Bryn Mawr area. He was a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Sea Scout, and Eagle Scout in Troop 33 and was awarded the Order of the Arrow at Camp Ajawah, now operated through Westminster Presbyterian Church. A graduate of West High School in January 1941, he attended the University of Minnesota in 1941 and 1942 before serving three years in the Air Force in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines. He returned to the U of M in 1946 and 1947 and was employed by International Harvester Co Motor Trucks (now Navistar) and became a dealer in Rice Lake, Wis. He was married to Dolores Edlund in 1949. Wally was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ann Johnson, his wife Dee of 60 years, his son Mark (1955 - 2012), and his sister Donabeth Jones. He is survived by Scott, Todd (Tammy), and daughter Jill (Gary) Nystedt; 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, and three nephews, Kent, Bruce and Lowell Jones, and special friend Joanne Labernik of Minnetonka. Wally has been a Life Elk member since 1951; attended the WWII Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. in 2010; a member of the Wayzata Masonic Lodge #205. Funeral service will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church Chapel, 1200 Marquette Ave on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 11:00AM followed by a lunch for all. Visitation will start at 10:00AM.
