Tatsuda, Charlie age 91 of Mpls., died peacefully on March 19, 2007. Preceded in death by wife, June; and 8 brothers and sisters. Survived by son, Chuck Jr. (Jennifer); grandsons, Peter and Jeffrey, numerous nieces and nephews from the West Coast; and close friend, Karen Sivanich. Born in Ketchikan, Alaska, oldest of 9 children, grew up working at Tatsuda's Grocery which still exists today. Graduated from University of Washington in 1937 and came to MN during WWII to attend military intelligence school at Camp Savage, following which he led a contingent of MIS graduates to Fort Benning, GA for parachute training and on to the Pacific theater as members of the 11th Airborne Division. Earned a Bronze Star during the campaign, and served many years in the Army Reserves, retiring as an Army Major. Following the war, graduated from the U of MN Law School and practiced law in the Uptown area for 40+years. Charlie loved helping people, and was active in many charitable organizations including the Salvation Army, SW Lions Club, Sons of Norway, Scottish Rite, Meals on Wheels, Japanese American Citizens League and Uptown Rotary Club. His positive approach to life impacted nearly everyone he met. Special thanks to the staff at St. Anthony Park Home for their loving and attentive care. Memorials preferred to either the Salvation Army, 2445 Prior Ave., Roseville, MN 55113 or the Normandale Japanese Garden Committee, 9862 Jedlicka Court, Eden Prairie, MN 55347. Private interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorial service 11 AM Wednesday, April 4 at Edina Community Lutheran Church, 4113 W. 54th St., Edina.
