Burley, Gwendolyn "Gwen" (Smith) Gwen Burley, age 92, of Bloomington, formerly Edina, passed away Wednesday, August 5, with her family gathered near, just as she loved it. Gwen was the epitome of grace, class, and beauty. She had a personal style that never quit, and a closet that didn't, either. She was a friend to many, always intently interested in people and their backgrounds, their celebrations, their struggles. Gwen listened earnestly, giving advice that was never forgotten because it was always offered with the wisest thought and understanding. Gwen was born in Buffalo, NY, on Dec. 21, 1922, to Thomas and June (Morrison) Smith and lived most of her younger life in that area, graduating from Lafayette High School and attending Univ. of Buffalo. She married G. Robert "Bob" Burley on Oct. 16, 1948 in Buffalo, and moved to Edina, Minn., in 1963 where they raised seven children. Gwen is survived by her husband Bob and children, Mike (Stephanie), Bridget (Jim Stangl), Brian (Suzette), Marty, Brad (Patty), Matt (Cathy), and Rob. Also by grandchildren, Bryan (Tanya), Brittany (Josh), Christina (Ryan), Katy (Andy), Natalie, Meghan, Ali, Shannon, Patrick, Maddie, Will, Anne, Tommy, Paul, John; and great-grandchildren Harper, Sydney, Gabriel, Jonah, Jack, Lucy. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Thomas, Janet and Faye. Visitation Monday, Aug. 10, 4-7pm, Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls 55419.
