Switzer, Frederick aka "Phoop Doodle" of Bloomington used to say "You don't get out of this life alive." Sure enough - he didn't; as proven by his departure on July 28th, 2015. Among other Fred-isms were: "life is far too important to be taken seriously", "are we having fun yet?", and "I say Holmes, what do you make of this?" Fred was a mechanic at Northwest Airlines for 37 years with an extending pole sign saying "GO" to let pilots know when they could push back. He was a WWII Army Veteran, built model airplanes, was an artist, a poet, an avid reader, a philosopher and a great husband - twice! He loved all of God's creations - even people - and everyone loved him back. On Thursday, August 6 there will be a visitation from 9 am to 10 am followed by a 10 am celebration of Fred's life at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. A memorial donation can be sent to The Nature Conservancy, 1101 W River Pkwy # 200, Minneapolis, MN 55415 or share a case of Miller High Life with friends while telling them stories about Fred. He just might join you!
