Kiland, Lance 67, Buffalo, MN, local artist and revered teacher, died on June 30 after a courageous struggle with lymphoma. He taught art and graphic design at North Hennepin Community College for almost 40 years and valued the time spent with students in the classroom as much as working in his painting studio at home. His artwork has been shown in various galleries and museums in the Twin Cities, Chicago and New York, including the Walker Art Center and the Mpls Institute of Arts. Lance is survived by wife, Kathy; siblings, Denese Kruse, Kevin Kiland and Kimberly Trudell; as well as many wonderful nieces & nephews. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, 1:00-4:30 pm at the Monticello Community Center.
