Meyer, of Pocasset, son, Adam Meyer and his wife Kim Gentry Meyer of Upton, and grandson, Gavin Meyer, and his mother Marcy Meyer, of Muncie, Indiana. She is also survived by her siblings Janice Searls Cummings and George Cone and their children. Born in Sterling, IL on May 15, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Searls and the late Virginia Williams Searls Cone. She grew up in IL and loved spending her summers on her grandfather Ray Searls' farm where he raised champion Morgan horses. She was also an active camp counselor and waterfront director by the age of 16. She was admitted to the University of Chicago at age 16 and later graduated with a bachelor of arts in history and education from Blackburn College in 1958, where she met her husband. They were married August 24, 1958, after which they moved to Minneapolis, MN where Richard did his graduate and law degrees at the U. of Minn. While living in Minneapolis she taught social studies at Ramsey High School and was a tennis coach. She also lived in Duluth, MN, where she was certified as one of the earliest newborn children's swimming instructors and was active in the League of Women Voters and the Junior League. She also met her lifelong friend Randie Segal. She and her family then returned to Minneapolis for several years where she raised her son, Adam, and continued her active participation with the League of Women Voters and on the board of the Junior League with her good friend Susan Flotten. She next lived in Marine on St. Croix, MN, where she ran a successful gift and antique shop, taught tennis, needlepoint, and various other crafts, and became a successful real estate agent. She also organized a tour of historic homes in the St. Croix river valley, as well as a history of those homes and the river valley. While next living in MI she continued her real estate career, becoming a broker with partner Casey Chase, and also developed her lifelong friendship with Nancy and John DiBiaggio. While in MI she also continued her love of swimming, walking, tennis, and international travel. She also enjoyed spending the summers boating on Lake Charlevoix. In addition to pursuing her own interests and career objectives, she was always willing to move to new communities and participate in her husband's career in fundraising at major universities: the Univ. of Minn, MI State Univ., and most recently Northeastern Univ. She retired to Pocasset, Mass. but retained her interests in tennis, walking, and the arts. She was also active in the Bourne Women's Club and the Atpucxet Garden Club of Bourne and was a member of North Falmouth Congregational Church. A memorial service will be held at North Falmouth Congregational Church, 155 Old Main Road, North Falmouth, Mass. 02556 on Saturday, September 19 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to North Falmouth Congregational Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
