A. David Meppen

Meppen A. David, age 80, of St. Paul on August 30, 2002. Son of the late Arthur J. & Jessie. Survived by wife of 16 years, Alice M.; stepson, David (Donna) Ingold of West Allis, WI; 2 step-granddaughters, Mary & Mianna; brother, Roger (Marjorie) Meppen of Powell, MO; sister, Faith (Otto) Johnson of Rapid City, SD; nieces & nephews; great-nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers, William in 1989, John A. on July 30, 2002 and Hillary in infancy. After a bout with Rheumatic Fever at age 16, he was left with reduced heart function for the remainder of his life. Earned a BA in Ag. Eng. from U of M. Completed MA in Water Drainage. In 1985, he retired as a Sr. Hydrologist after working for 33 years for DNR. David is remembered for his wit, devotion to his church, his love, dedication, and loyalty to his friends, community and family, and as a master storyteller. Funeral service Wednesday, 10:30 am at HAMLINE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1514 Englewood Ave., St. Paul. Visitation Tuesday, 4-8 pm at HOLCOMB-HENRY-BOOM FUNERAL HOME, 536 N. Snelling Ave. and one hour prior to service on Wednesday. Also, funeral service Thursday, 11 am at FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Racine, MN with visitation 10:30 am until time of service. Interment Hamilton Cemetery. Memorials pref. in lieu of flowers. 651-646-2844
