Golden (James) Janet, age 86, died peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 3, 2002 in St. Paul. Janet had a lifelong commitment to social justice, working for civil rights in Atlanta, fair housing in surburban Maryland, and juvenile justice in Lexington, Kentucky. She was a very caring, generous and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who found purpose and enjoyment by participating fully in all aspects of life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Abner Golden. Survived by three children, Jim (Kendra) Golden, Pat (Greg) Schaffner and Nancy (Max) Moon; grandchildren, Shelley and Brian Golden and Philip and Diane Schaffner. She will be greatly missed. In gratitude for the loving care given to Janet by the wonderful staff at Rakhma Joy Home, the family requests in lieu of flowers memorials be donated to Rakhma Joy Home (in care of Janet Golden Memorial), 4953 Aldrich Ave S., Mpls., MN, 55409.
