Franson, Richard V. age 86, of South Minneapolis, died peacefully on May 27th, 2015. Born February 14, 1929 in Little Falls, MN. Preceded in death by parents, Verner & Evangeline Franson; brothers, Michael and Gary. Survived by sons, Todd (Kathy), Tim (Elizabeth); daughter, Terri (Mark - fiance); granddaughter, Catherine; sisters, Vernelle Varno and Darlene Brandt; many nieces and nephews. Richard was a Central High School graduate class of 1947, graduated from Dunwoody Institute, and earned his BA in Public Administration from Metro State University in 1976. He retired as a Chief Appraiser for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Richard spent twenty years in the military retiring as an Army First Sergeant (E8). He served in South Korea with U.S. Army and South Vietnam as a Navy SeaBee. He was a devoted member of the American Legion Post 435, VFW 246, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club 34 and Knights of Columbus. Richard dedicated his whole life to politics. He was a 12th ward Alderman and remained politically active in the State of Minnesota, especially in South Minneapolis. He will always be remembered for his political campaigns, military service and love of his country. May he rest in peace. "God Bless America."
