Gruenwald, Nadeane Harriet 86, of Minneapolis, died peacefully surrounded by her family on May 26, 2015. She was born Feb. 19, 1929 in Prairie Farm, Wis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Franz; her son, Anthony; daughter, Susan; her parents, Oscar and Gladys Wold; and sister, June Zemke. Survived by her children, Anna Amundson (Steve), Thomas (Caroline), Elizabeth Crothers (Jay), Mary Willette (Tim), Teresa St. Amant (Robert), Joan Freidlund (Kelly), Ruth, Jim (Maria), and Juliana Henderson (Greg); grandchildren, Jeff (Tarrina), Scott (Marcie), Sarah (Paul), Kelsey, Rebecca (Tom), Christine, Tom Jr. (Kim), Katie (Josh), Daniel (Katie), Laura (Mike), Hannah (Matt), Franz, Marie, Peter, Chris, Anne, Emily (John), Anthony, Elaina (Matt), Adam, Madeline, Alicia, Jenna, Angela, Amelia, and Alexander; sisters, Sylvia Schmidt and Margaret Greschner; 16 great-grandchildren. Born on a dairy farm, she trained as a registered nurse at Fairview School of Nursing and met her future husband Rudy, a recent German immigrant from then Czechoslovakia, while working at a hospital in Rice Lake, Wis. She was a mom to many more than her very large family and a devout Catholic. She will be remembered for her strength, wit, kindness, and selflessness. The family thanks the staff at Catholic Eldercare in Minneapolis for their loving care and attentiveness. Visitation Friday from 4-8 PM, and Saturday 9-9:45 AM, at St. John the Baptist Church, Savage. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10 AM, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 4625 W. 125th St., Savage. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights.
