Westerberg, Leo D. age 71, of Brookings, SD, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015 at the Golden Living Center-Arlington, SD. His Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Rude's Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment of his cremains will take place at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Mpls, MN. Leo Dordan Westerberg was born on November 4, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN the son of Carl and Mary (Dordan) Westerberg. His family moved to Medicine Lake, MN and Leo attended school in Wayzata, MN. He served in the United States Army from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1964. After moving to St. Anthony Village, MN, he was employed as an apartment maintenance manager for 30 years. He was united in marriage to Marlene Weiss on March 15, 1996, in Las Vegas, NV. In 1997, they moved to Las Vegas where he was employed in apartment maintenance. In 2006, they moved to Arlington, SD to be near Marlene's mother. In 2010, they moved to Brookings. Leo was employed at Wal Mart for eight years, assembling bicycles and furniture. Leo loved to travel with his wife to many different places in the United States. Even though his health was deteriorating, Leo and Marlene were able to take one last trip together to San Diego, CA. Leo will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Marlene; three step-daughters, Carrie Hammer, Nancy (Chris) Wilhelm, and Wendy Hammer; six grandchildren, Taylor, Meghan, Thomas, Aaron, Gavin, and Parker. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Carl, Jr.; and two sisters, Cathryn and Mary Ann. Condolences: rudesfuneralhome.com
