Lanpher, Billie Engle age 82, of Carver, MN passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on April 16, 2015 at his home in Florida. Preceded in death by parents Harvey and Gladys Lanpher, brothers Donald and James, sister Jean Nelson, niece Rita Tornow, sisters-in-law Betty and Madonna, brothers-in-law Stanley Nelson and Mike Hess. Survived by wife of 55 years Karen, daughters Kim Lanpher, Krissi (Jeff) Barnett, Grandchildren Kory (Justine) Aretz, Michon Lanpher, Brady Aretz, Mercedes Lanpher, Jeremy and great grandchild Julian Barnett. Siblings Maria Hess, Terril, Iowa, "Bud" Lanpher Sioux Falls, S. D., Robert and Evelyn Lanpher, Sioux Falls, S. D., many nieces, nephews and friends. He was proud to have served for his country in the Army. He worked as a pressmen for the Argus Leader Sioux Falls and Star Tribune for 44 years. He loved spending time with his family canoeing and bear hunting in the Boundary Waters. Snowmobiling and four wheeling at his cabin in the Black Hills and watching his grandchildren play baseball, basketball, soccer and dance. He volunteered for Loaves and fishes, Lion's Club, Prison Ministry and Emerald Crest Memory Care. He was a diehard Chicago Bears fan and you would see him wearing bears clothes, drinking from Bears cups and sitting in his Bear lawn chair watching his grandkids play. Funeral Service 12:00pm Saturday May 2, 2015 at East Union Lutheran Church, visitation 1 hour prior to service. Lunch to follow at church. Private burial at Fort Snelling at a later date.
