TenBroek, Margaret "Bryce" Loudon Margaret "Bryce" Loudon TenBroek, 79, died early Monday, April 20, 2015, just weeks before her 80th birthday. Bryce leaves behind Bill, her husband of 57 years, her own siblings Joan Colwell, Mary Eckert, and Robert Loudon, her four children, Erica, Jim (Sara), Peggy Challgren (Mark), and Will (Julie Baker), and grandchildren Carly, Haley and Annika Challgren, Ben and Matt TenBroek, and Elizabeth and Grace TenBroek. She also leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews, and many, many loving friends. Preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Owre. The cause of death was complications caused by Parkinson's Disease. Born May 12, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN, Bryce was the third of Dorothy and Paul "Red" Loudon's five children. Growing up in Minneapolis, Bryce graduated from Northrup School, and then Colby Sawyer College in New Hampshire. After graduating from college and a brief stay in New York City, Bryce returned to Minnesota, where she met Bill TenBroek, an aspiring young Honeywell engineer. They were married on June 21, 1958 at Plymouth Congregational Church, and have been active members of Plymouth to this date. Bryce and Bill started their family in St. Louis Park, and then moved to their current home in 1964. As children arrived, Bryce focused her energy on her family, and she proved to be an excellent (and very proud) mother, in addition to a devoted wife to Bill. During those years she cherished the all-consuming roles of raising her children - she was active in the Edina PTA and Booster Club, and contributed to the founding of Edina's EGAA traveling basketball program, to name a few. In addition to motherhood, she enjoyed entertaining friends and business associates, volunteer work at the Junior League, Children's Hospital, and The Clothesline, baking excellent pies and cookies, gardening, bridge, and, of course, playing a mean game of tennis. The annual family tennis match is fondly remembered by many - especially her fierce competitive spirit in fighting for every point. Bryce's life changed when she was diagnosed with early onset of Parkinson's Disease - 30 years ago. Family and friends rallied to her support, creating a fund that supported experimental surgery by Dr. Curt Freed. Bryce's surgery went well, and her response was miraculous - the best of any of the numerous patients in the trial. She was proud to have her case featured in the London Times Sunday Magazine, with a picture of her surgery as the cover, and she was then blessed with many more good years than is typical for those living with the disease. Family and friends are forever grateful to all those that helped Bryce overcome so many challenges of Parkinson's, including many excellent doctors. She was able to know and completely enjoy her grandchildren, and to live a happy and fulfilling life as a result. Bryce will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, from 4pm to 7pm at the Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel at 5000 W. 50th Street in Edina. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 30 at 11am at Plymouth Congregational Church - 1900 Nicollet Avenue. In lieu of flowers the family gratefully requests memorials to be made in Bryce's name to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation at pdf.org/en/…
