Stockbridge, John Carleton John died on April 14, 2015 one month short of his 86th birthday. He was born on May 8, 1929 in Norwalk, CT and grew up in Westfield, MA, graduating from Westfield High School in 1947, and went on to graduate from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture in 1949. He was the great-grandson of Levi Stockbridge for whom the school was named. It is part of the Univ. of MA in Amherst, MA. After graduating, he worked as the herdsman for the Gardner State Hospital in Gardner, MA. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was married to Nean Furman in Sedalia, MO and had two daughters, Cynthia and Lydia. He was predeceased by his wife, Nean; daughter, Lydia. He leaves behind his wife, Jan; daughter, Cynthia (Clifford) Harper; two grandchildren; two great-grand-children; brother, Edward (Blanche) and their two daughters and grandsons. After retiring from the Air Force, John worked for many years at the Veterans Administration and retired from civilian service in Mpls., MN. He has lived for many years in Bloomington, MN and was a member of Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church. A private memorial service will be held at a later date, where his ashes will be interred next to his parents, John and Mary Stockbridge in Poplar Ridge, NY. Cremation Society of MN (952-924-4100).
