Smith, Robert G. age 76, of Dellwood, MN, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Survived by Molly, his wife of 54 years; children, Robert Smith II (Kim), Myna Peterson (Ross), and Kristen Smith Olson (Richard). Beloved grandpa of Robbie, Gabe, Ian, Isaac, Brock, Alfie, and Dickie. Bob was born on August 27, 1929 to Viola & Cleo Smith. He graduated from White Bear High School and Hamline University. Bob received his Master's degree from the University of Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He and Molly met at Hamline University and were married on June 1, 1951. Bob's love for young people and learning led him to a long and successful career in education. Teaching in Montevideo, MN for several years, he then moved to Roseville, MN where he was principal of Capital View Junior High, and Parkview Middle School until his retirement in 1987. Bob was an active member of Arlington Hills United Methodist Church where he held positions of leadership in music and education. His passing is also mourned by brother, Al Smith (Joan); brother & sister-in-law, Buzz & Mary Kay Petersen; many nieces and nephews, "the group" and all whose lives he touched. Memorial service Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 11 AM at Arlington Hills United Methodist Church, 759 East County Road B, Maplewood, MN. The family plans to set up a music scholarship in Bob's memory. Memorials preferred.
