Litecky, Brother Cyril 88, died on Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Bethlehem in the Holy Land. A De La Salle Brother for 55 years, he was born Bernard Litecky in Minneapolis, MN, son of Paul and Mary (Kovacs) Litecky. He attended St. Cyril Elementary School and Edison H.S. A WWII veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he entered the novitiate of the Brothers in Glencoe, MO, in 1950 and professed his final vows in 1955. Brother Cyril earned a BA from St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN, and an MA from St. Mary's University in Winona, MN. During his years as an educator he taught in Illinois and Wisconsin. From 1955 to 1965 he was a teacher and principal at Pacelli H.S. in Stevens Point, WI, and he was the founding principal and teacher at Roncalli H.S. in Manitowoc, WI, from 1965 to 1973. Later he was Assistant Provincial and Provincial of the Winona Province of Christian Brothers. He served twice as Principal of DeLaSalle H.S. in Minneapolis from 1975 to 1977 and from 1989 to 1991. From 1984 to 1989 he was Academic Vice President at Bethlehem University in the Holy Land. He returned to Bethlehem University in 1995 where he served as Financial Vice President from 1991 to 1995 and then as Assistant to the Vice Chancellor until recent years. Survivors include his brother, Frank Litecky, of Minneapolis and the De La Salle Christian Brothers. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Bethlehem University on Monday, April 6, and interment was in the Brothers' crypt on campus.
