Matt, John Gregory Age 67. Born October 22, 1938 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the son of Alphonse J. Matt & Loretta Wittmann Matt. Died at St. Paul's Church Home in St. Paul on Wednesday morning February 8, 2006. He attended Nativity Parish elementary school, Cretin High School, Nazareth Hall Preparatory Seminary and St. Paul Seminary (2 years.) After leaving the Seminary he worked as advertising manager at The Wanderer, and from there he moved to full-time care of his mother, Loretta, until her death in 1988. At that time he was already ill and unable to work full time, and after some hospitalization he moved to St. Paul's Church Home, where he contributed to social and religious activities and enjoyed the company of staff and residents. He will be missed by family and friends as well as by the residents and staff of St. Paul's Church Home and the Kidney Dialysis Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and godparents. He is survived by his siblings, Loretta Campbell, sister, Al Matt, Jr., brother, editor of The Wanderer, Sister Mary Louise Matt, C.S.J., sister, and Joseph Peter Matt, brother, and by nieces and nephews, Julie (Steve) Kloek, Joseph (Kim) Matt, Monica (Joseph) Hamilton, Ann (Dave)Ternes, Bridget (Michael) Conroy, Christopher (Heidi) Matt, Mark (Kathy) Campbell, Stephen (Doreen) Campbell, Jeannette (Eric) Fallgren, Daniel (Susan) Campbell, Joanna (Steven) Palkovitz, David (Kristin) Campbell, Kimberly "Tina" (Valdas) Bartosevic, Theresa Matt, Suzanna Maria Matt and Thomas More Matt, and by 35 grandnieces and nephews. Friends may call from 5:30 - 8 PM, Monday, at Willwerscheid Funeral Home, 1167 Grand Ave., St. Paul (651-228-1006) or at church 1/2 hour before the Mass which will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, at the Church of the Nativity of Our Lord, Stanford at Prior, St. Paul. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Masses for the repose of John's soul are appreciated. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Church Home or to the American Kidney Fund.
