Hau Sister Mary Colleen, SSND, School Sister of Notre Dame, age 70, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Cancer Home, St. Paul. visitation will be at St. Matthew's Church, St Paul, on Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Memorial Mass at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Good Counsel Convent, Mankato, on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. with visitation prior to the Mass. Sister Mary Colleen (Joan Hau) was born September 28, 1932, in St. Paul, MN, to Joseph and Catherine (Fischbach) Hau. She entered the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato in 1950 and took First Vows in 1953. Following 15 years as primary teacher in schools in Minnesota, she moved into parish ministry for the next 30 years. At the time of her death she was serving in pastoral ministry at St. Matthew's Parish, St. Paul. Sister had a Bachelor's degree in Education from Mount Mary College, Milwaukee, and a Master's degree in Pastoral Ministry from Creighton University, Omaha. She is survived by her mother; four sisters, Marie Mallinger, Janis Duffey (her twin sister), Kathleen Greer, and Colleen Stehr; two brothers, Joseph and Thomas, all from the Twin Cities area; and by her sisters in community, the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She was preceded in death by her father and her brother Donald.
