Smith, Emily Anne "Bugs" Sept. 10, 1993 - Dec. 31, 2005 Died peacefully in her sleep, after a courageous battle with an undiagnosed motor neuron disease. During her short life, she touched everyone who knew her, with her infectious smile and empathy for others. She was Minnesota's biggest sport's fan, inspiring Joe Mauer of the Twins to remark that 'she knows more about the Twins than I do.' She loved going to school, and with the help of a caring staff, attended right up until the holiday break. She never complained as the unknown disease robbed her weekly of another skill, instead she showed us all how to live well. She was truly an angel here on earth who came into this world innocent and left that way. Unspoiled. We will miss her forever. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Chuck and Darlene Smith; special grandmas, Nana Dag and Nana Guidazio; and Uncle John and Aunt Rita Turner. Survived by loving parents, Anne and Mike Smith; sisters, Grace, Claire Dawson (Richard), Carolyn; brother, David (Bridget); great-grandmother, Irene Lethert; grandparents, Ardis Lethert, Joe Lethert and Susan Passolt, Peggy Rector; great aunt and uncle, Mike and Rose Lethert; nephews, Andy and Ben; aunts, Jeanne DeNoma (John), Teresa Lethert, Maggie Schneider (Brian Kirchoff), Dawne Sulesky (Ed), Missy Leinen, Lisa Rosenthal; uncles, Joe Lethert (Carol Vincent), John Lethert, Jason Lethert (Jodi Menard); Godmother, Allison Lethert; cousins, Sammy, Carly and John Lethert, Cady Menard; and very special friends, Caitlyn Barnier, Kylie Page and Christina Pickering, Princess Holly, Flame and Kelly, Ferty and family; and the teachers of both Turtle Lake and Chippewa. A special thank you to the staff of Children's Hospital Karuna Care, the Nurses of the St. Paul Children's PICU, Drs.Sandy Sackett, John Day, Nancy Kammer, Paul Kubic, Stephen Shreve, Michelle Kennedy, Suzanne Wright, Stephen England, David Schowalter, Nancy Kuntz, Betty Ong; Jason Kelecic and the gang at Gillette ADT for their love and support. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Saturday, at the CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION, 51 West 7th Street, St. Paul. Private interment. Visitation at WILLWERSCHEID FUNERAL HOME 1167 Grand Avenue, 651.228.1006, 3-8 PM Friday and at church 1/2 hour prior to Mass.
