Stella (Stephanie) Mangano Rosow passed away on June 15, 2002 at the N.C. Little Memorial Hospice after a struggle with Alzheimer's and lung cancer. She was 84. A Minnesota resident for almost 50 years, Stella was born in Chicago, IL on August 3, 1917. She worked as a librarian in the Chicago Public Library system and worked for Jane Adams at Hull House in Chicago. Upon moving to Golden Valley she became the corporate librarian of the Gold Bond Stamp Co., Curt Carlson's predecessor company to the Carlson Companies. She retired from Carlson Companies in 1989 after 27 years of service. Stella was actively involved and served on numerous committees at St. Margaret Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Golden Valley and Benilde High School in St. Louis Park. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Ben, who provided loving care for her over the past years, two sons, four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a brother; son Richard, of Minneapolis, his wife Vicki Underland-Rosow and their children Katherine and Michael and his wife Mona Peterson Rosow; and, son David, of Southport, CT, his wife Jeanne and their children, David, Jr and his wife Virginia and Christopher and his wife Meghan and their son Connor, her great grandson, and her brother Roy Mangano of Chicago, IL. Two brothers, Frank and Dominic, predeceased her. Friends may visit the family at Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel, 5000 West 50th & Hwy 100, Edina, between 5PM and 7PM TONIGHT. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on at 10:30 AM, Tuesday June 18, 2002 at St. Margaret Mary Church, 2323 Zenith Avenue North, Golden Valley, MN. Interment will be private at Fort Snelling. The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Stella's name to the Methodist Homecare and Hospice, 6500 Excelsior Blvd., St. Louis Park, MN 55426 or N.C.
