Pomplun, James Edwin Age 72, of Bloomington, died 2/27/15 at the Prelude Cottages Memory Care in Woodbury from complications of Fronto-temporal Dementia. Born 8/6/42 in St. Paul, MN to Edwin Pomplun and Alma Hanevik. Retired as a thirty-three year employee of the Walker Art Center in 2004. Passionate about birds, literature, chess, poetry, music and much more. Jim did everything with intensity, precision and skill. Preceded in death by his parents. Survived by significant other, Eloise Jasken; best friend since fifth grade, Stephan Rolf; sister, Susan Pasiuk (Jim); nieces, Jackie Christian (Louie) and Stephanie Bacigolupo (Tom); great-niece, Cassie Christian; great-nephews, Louie Christian Jr. and Timmy Bacigolupo; many cousins and friends. Thank you to the Prelude Cottages for welcoming Jim in his need and, along with St. Croix Hospice, caring for Jim with respect and compassion in his last days. Thank you also to Jim's caregivers prior to his admission to the Prelude and to Pat McGrath, the VA volunteer who became a friend. Special thanks to Stephan Rolf, devoted friend to Jim from childhood to the end. This is what friendship is all about.
