Lindquist, Kirsten Died at her home in Glen Ellen, California on February 14, 2015. The cause of death was pancreatic cancer. She was born on June 22,1954 in San Rafael, California. The eldest of three children, she is survived by her mother Mickey Cooke and stepfather Erik Holbek of Glen Ellen, brothers Scott Lindquist of Santa Fe, N.M., and Suren Holbek of Wildwood, CA and sister Mona Lindquist of San Anselmo, CA. She was much loved by her two nephews and three nieces in whose lives she took great interest. Also close to her heart were her aunt Patricia Smith of Glen Ellen and 9 cousins. She completed her earlier schooling in California and moved with family to Northern Virginia where she attended Hammond High School in Alexandria. She attended Northern Virginia Community College and Santa Rosa Junior College. A summer internship led to a job with a CBS radio affiliate in Northern Virginia. In 1976 she joined the Associated Press Radio Network in Washington, D.C. where she covered the White House, State Department, Congress, the Supreme Court and all federal agencies. She left radio in 1980 to join the startup crew of CNN news. She later anchored news for CNN in Los Angeles. In 1985 she moved to Minneapolis where she worked for NBC, anchoring the news and becoming involved in community work. Her 1990 marriage to an apple producer in southern Minnesota opened her eyes to the world of agricultural work and marketing. She ran a farm market at Lake City, MN, was responsible for written communication with Pepin Heights Orchard's 100 limited partners. Here, she served as PR Director for Prairie Island Sioux Tribal Council in Red Wing, MN. Hired to improve the tribe's community relations with the local citizenry, she traveled to Washington with tribal leaders to attend meetings with the BIA. In 1998 she returned to her roots in Northern California. She obtained her real estate license in 1999 and affiliated with brokerages in Sonpma Valley. She found great satisfaction working with conservation buyers of land. Kirsten was a board member of the Sonoma Land Trust, chair of the Sonoma Valley Citizens' Advisory Commission, on the Board of the Sonoma Valley Hospital Foundation, a mentor with the Sonoma Valley Mentoring Alliance and a member of the Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce. Beyond her broad and extensive career activities, Kirsten loved the outdoors: walking, skiing, hiking, camping, biking and horseback riding. A celebration of her life will be held on April 10, 2015 at eleven a.m. at the White Barn at 14805 Sonoma Highway, Glen Ellen, California She asked that contributions in her name be made to the Sonoma Land Trust, 822 Fifth Street, Santa Rosa, CA 95404.
