Nelson George Bernard, age 82 of Naples, FL/Mpls MN, died July 8, 2003. George was born October 4, 1920 in Mpls. He served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt 1C with the 135th Inf. He received the Motor Vehicle Badge, Combat Inf. Badge, Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart. George and Janet met and married on July 26, 1947 and began their marriage of 56 yrs. He was a homebuilder in Mpls until they moved to Florida in 1971, where he became a realtor until his retirement in 1991 when they relocated to Naples FL. George was a loving and devoted husband and father. His favorite times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren in whom he took great pleasure. He loved fishing with his boys and loved being outdoors. He also loved helping others when there was a need. George was known and appreciated for his quick wit, his warm heart and the sparkle in his blue eyes when he smiled. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Janet; 5 sons and 4 daughters, Dan, George Jr., Peggy, Jean, Jerry, Kristen, Brian, Mick, Janet Jr.; 19 grandchildren; 1 sister and 1 brother. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Tuesday at The Church of St Raphael, 7301 Bass Lake Rd., Crystal. Int. Ft Snelling. Visitation 5-8 PM Monday at Gearty Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel 39th and W. Broadway.
