Beckman Vernon H., age 81, of Anoka, died on June 5, 2002 of congestive heart failure & Parkinson's disease. Survived by loving wife of 30 years, Verna; stepson, James (Lydia) Mevissen; 2 grandsons, Jerry and Rob (Ginger) Mevissen; great-granddaughter, Jazzlenn; brother, Gordon Beckman and sister, Edythe Beckman. Preceded in death by parents and by twin brother, Alton in 1994. Vernon was in the Army for 2 years, serving one year in Japan. For over 40 years, he worked for many construction companies building bridges in Minnesota and Iowa. Vernon loved to walk through the woods. He enjoyed hunting deer and fox. Vernon spent the last year and a half in the Guardian Angels Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Saturday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church (566 4th Street NW, Elk River). Visitation 4-8 PM TODAY at St. Andrew's Catholic Church and one hour prior to service at the church. Interment St. Andrew's Church Cemetery. Dare's Funeral Home, 763-441-1212.
