McIntyre, Lois Jean (Robbins) age 85, of West St Paul, formerly of the Wayzata & Minnetonka areas, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on February 23, 2015. Loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lois was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob); brother, Frank and mother Vivian. Survived by daughters, Lori (Ric Williams), Robin and Dawn (Wendy), and sons, Jeffrey (Katje) and John (Doreen); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and many friends. Lois, born in South Dakota in 1929, migrated with her family to the Grays Bay area of Lake Minnetonka in the 1930's and was a 1947 graduate of Wayzata High School. Shortly after marrying she contracted polio in 1949. While this would have slowed most people down, Lois proceeded to live life to the fullest not letting the effects of polio interfere with her life. She spent several years in the Sister Kinney Institute before returning home. She and Bob raised their family in their home on Shaver's Lake in Woodland and they enjoyed spending many evenings and weekends on Lake Minnetonka. After her children were out of school, she began working at Courage Center in Golden Valley, retiring in 1989. Lois loved being on a lake and was an avid birder and gardener. When she and Bob retired, they built their dream home on Goose Lake, in Harris, where they lived until Bob's passing in 1999. In 2001 she moved to a co-op apartment in West St. Paul to begin the next phase of her life. She became active in her co-op association, was a member of a Post-Polio group, and became a devoted Gopher Women's Basketball fan. You could find her court side at every home game. Lois was an inspiration to many that she touched throughout her life. Funeral service 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata. Visitation 4-7 PM Monday at the funeral home and one half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, family prefers donations to Courage Center or the Post-Polio Awareness & Support Society (PPASSMN.org). David Lee Funeral Home Wayzata 952-473-5577 davidleefuneralhome.com
