Godfrey Elinor Marie Holm, 74, of Anoka, formerly of Columbia Heights, died July 3, 2003 at Park River Estates Care Center in Coon Rapids after a brief illness. She was born October 19, 1928 in Minneapolis to Norwegian immigrants, Leif & Astrid Holm. Preceded in death by grandparents, Askel & Louise Baltz ersen, Johan & Inga Holm; father, Leif Holm; step-father, Alfred Johnson; fiance, Ralph Freeman, Jr; former second husband, Marvin Wiltsey; and her first husband, Earl Godfrey. She was a graduate of Minneapolis Central High School, class of 1946. She had been employed by Boulevard Frocks, Hardware Mutual Insurance, Anoka County Social Services, and Ham Lake City Hall. She had been a professional seamstress and bridal consultant for many years in Columbia Heights. She was a member of the Sons of Norway, Red Wing Collector's Society, Cremation Society of MN, and the Ham Lake Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. She dedicated her life to Jehovah God March 23, 1963. She tried to live her life by a motto she learned as a young girl, "Any good thing I may do, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again." She will always be remembered for her love of antiques, love of life, her love of singing, love of flowers, and her love of people. She will also be remembered for her love of the Minneapolis area (which she knew like the back of her hand) and all that it had to offer, especially the lakes and parks, which she visited ofen. She was a long time dealer with Antiques on Main in Anoka up until her death. Survived by her mother, Astrid Johnson, Eden Prairie; 5 children, Stephen Godfrey, CA, Phillip (Jeanne) Godfrey, Cedar, Neal (Jane) Godfrey, Pillager, Lynette (Paul) Wethington, SC, Joyce (Gary) Scheppa, WI; 10 grandchildren, Heather (Darwin) Bode, Stewartville, Shawn (Joan) Godfrey, Ramsey, Travis Godfrey, Cedar, Douglas (Kathy) Godfrey, Motley, Erik (Melanie) Godfrey, Brainerd, Angela Freeman, SC, Julie Freeman, Duluth, John Wethington, SC, Jacob Scheppa, WI, Zack Scheppa, Minneapolis; 7 great-grandchildren, Alexander Metz and Nicholas Bode, Stewartville, Emma and Anna Godfrey, Ramsey, Ashley Godfrey, Motley, Solomon Freeman-Hailu, SC, Katana Strong, Duluth; brothers, Frederick (Elizabeth) Holm, Ontario, Kenneth (Jean) Holm, Ontario; sisters, Arline (Lee) Morton, CA, Lil Lindsey, Eden Prairie, Arlene (Ross) Goodfellow, Ontario, Carolynn (Bruce) Tashlin Jennings, Ontario; many cousins, nieces, nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, at 3 PM at the King Hall of Johovah's Witnesses, 16154 Central Avenue NE, Ham Lake, MN. There will be a reception following the service. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the nursing home staff.
