Engler, Bess age 92, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 4, 2015. Preceded in death by husbands, Lawrence Engler, Stanley Platnick; parents, Nathan & Lena Levitt; siblings, David Levitt, Rose Cohen and husband, Irving. Survived by children, Edward (Bonnie) Engler, Serene (Phillip Marks) Engler, James (Susan) Engler, Maurice Engler; grandchildren, Derek (Gabrielle Slow) Engler, Louis Engler, Benjamin Engler, Sara Engler, Tyler Engler; nephews & niece, Steven Cohen, Dr. Robert (Julie Ruedi) Engler and Sandy (Les) Gerrie. Bess grew up in Brooklyn, NY where she met Lawrence Engler at the Jewish USO during WWII. They married and moved to Minneapolis. Together they owned Willard Drug Store in North Mpls. After Lawrence passed away in 1968, Bess worked at Elliot Auto Supply where she met Stanley Platnick. They were married until his death in 1992. Bess continued to work full-time at Elliot Auto Supply until she was 84 years old. Bess will be deeply missed as she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend and colleague. Our family would like to thank Bess' wonderful caregivers including Debbie Kordiak and Shelly Freeman, Wokie, and everyone at Jones-Harrison Residence. Funeral service was held Friday at BETH EL SYNAGOGUE, 5225 Barry St. West, St. Louis Park. Memorials preferred to donor's favorite charity.
