Hunt Dorothy E. Hunt (Kipp), passed away peacefully in her home on June 22, 2003. Preceded in death by parents, Orin L. and Leona B. Kipp; brother, Ralph; and sisters, Louise, Mary, and Margaret. Survived by her brother, Paul Kipp; her sister, Harriet Fisher; her daughters, Charlotte, Judy and Patricia; 10 of her "favorite"grandchildren including: Debbie, Nancy, Laura, Joe, Sue, Brenda, Nicole, Steve, Roy and Rick; and 9 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a woman of tremendous talents, and very much ahead of her time in balancing both family and career responsibilities with a dedication and love that prevailed in all she did. Dorothy, who rose to the position of vice president of actuarial research with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN, started her 29 year career with Minnesota Hospital Service Association (Blue Cross) as a statistical clerk. Dorothy advanced from clerk to statistician to vice president of the Actuarial Research Division in 1958. Dorothy was the first woman vice president within the national system of Blue Cross plans. After her retirement from BCBSM in 1973, she worked for the national Blue Cross Association for the next six years auditing the actuarial operations of Blue Cross plans across the country. Dorothy's dedication to the concept of service provided by Blue Cross and Blue Shield planswas recognized by her peers throughout the country. To honor and celebrate Dorothy's life, there will be a memorial service at Hamline United Methodist Church, 1514 Englewood Ave., St. Paul, MN at 10 AM on Thursday, July 3rd.
