West, Stanley Gordon Age 82, of the Twin Cities, passed away January 21st, 2015, from complications of Parkinson's disease. He was born in St. Paul, where he attended St Paul Central, followed by Macalester College, University of MN, and Luther Seminary. After ordination he served Lutheran Parishes in Boyd, MN, Rockford, IL, and Livingston MT. He was director of Christikon Youth Camp for 7 years during which time he impacted countless teenagers through his strong faith and gifted story-telling. His first book "Amos"was published in 1983, and made into a movie in 1985. It was followed by 6 additional books, including his trilogy about St. Paul Central High School set in 1950. The trilogy is used in numerous High School English classes across the country. "Until They Bring the Streetcars Back is currently in movie production with Film Bridge International. He is preceded in death by his brother CJ West II and his sons, Peter, Andrew and Stephen. He is survived by his daughters, Karen Karis, Julie Falkenstein, Linda Richmond, Rebecca Mulligan, and Susan West. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, and Wendell Stockwell, his dear friend who helped care for him in his last years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be sent to: Yellowstone Park Foundation, because of his love for Montana or Running Strong for American Indian Youth (indianyouth.org) because of his compassion for youth. Memorial Service will be March 8th, 2pm at Southwest Christian High School, 1981 Bavaria Rd., Chaska, MN. Memorial Service in Livingston, MT, on June 27th, 11 AM at American Lutheran Church.
