Frick, Howard A. The Lord called Howard home Jan. 17, 2015. He was born to August and Alice (Ryan) Frick Feb. 21, 1925, 93 11/12 years ago. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell, of 49 years, parents, and only brother, Harold. Lived in Wayzata until retiring to Garrison, MN and spent his last few years in Brainerd at Good Samaritan. He grew up in an apartment above his parent's store on Lake and Broadway in Wayzata. He enlisted in the Army and served in WWII, meeting his brother, Harold, for their last picture together in Italy. He married Nellie Olson on June 22, 1946 in Santiago, MN. They had 49 1/2 dancing years together. Raising his children, Madelyn (Layton) Paine, Charles (Colleen Knight), David (Bobbie Jo Tibbetts); Grandpa Howard enjoyed Joshua (Jenny), Travis (Jenn), Kellie (Jeff Scissons), Dustin, and Megan. They loved and greatly appreciated Grandpa. He got lots of handshakes, hugs and kisses and pats on the back from great-grandchildren, Tyler, Carter, Maddie, Ryleigh, Nick, Bennett and Liam. He served in the 5th Army 106 Artillery Battalion. He served the city of Wayzata as a police officer, fireman for 34 years, and Superintendent of Water and Sewer for 25 years. He also helped with the Building Committee for the existing Redeemer Lutheran Church as well as working on building the church. He retired from the MWCC, moving to Garrison and Bonita Springs/Estero, Florida in the winter. Visitation at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., on Friday, January 23 from 2-4 PM followed by a graveside service with military honors at Summit Park Cemetery in Wayzata. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.
