Bartoo Glenn, age 77, of St. Paul, died on May 30. Survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Carolyn; children, Cynthia (Ralph Jacobson), Tim (Ruth Walmsley) & Paul (Carol Padberg); grandchildren, Mari, Leah, Shaun, Thea, Naomi, Natalie & Daniel; great-grandchildren, Nika & Sasha. Glenn was a member of Society of Friends (Quakers) & was part of this community all his adult life. Glenn graduated from the US Coast Guard in 1945 as Lieutenant JG & served active duty until 1948. He received his MA from the University of Chicago in sociology/psychology in 1952. Glenn worked for the American Friends Service Committee, the Ohio State Penitentiary, the Kentucky Reception & Diagnostic Center, & the University of Minnesota in Corrections. He founded two businesses, Metro ZipSort & Mpls ZipSort in the Twin Cities. Glenn sold Mpls ZipSort in 1987 & devoted himself to peace work focusing on Central American issues. He was active with Pastors for Peace, Witness for Peace, Overground Railroad, the Resource Center of the Americas, Center for Victims of Torture, and American Radio Relay League, SERVAS, and the Democratic Party. A memorial service will be held on Sat., June 15 at the Twin Cities Meeting House, 1725 Grand Ave., St. Paul, at 3 pm. Memorial gifts could be sent to Pastors for Peace, or NYM Fund for El Salvador.
