Hirschoff Edwin C., age 96, of Mpls., died May 13, 2002. Born in Zurich, Switzerland, he immigrated to Mpls. at age 9. An entrepreneur and an inventor, he was Director of Public Relations for D.W. Onan & Sons before founding Art-O-Graph, a Mpls. firm. A creative photographer and leader in the pictorialist movement in the 1940's and 50's, Hirschoff exhibited his photographs in the U.S., Europe and Japan and won many awards. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marie. Survived by his children, Jon Hirschoff, Bethany, CT, Paula Hirschoff, Washington D.C., Taya Mergott, Barrington, IL, Heidi Hirschoff, Crystal, MN; grandchildren, Aliina Kinabrew, Dustin Mergott, Jason Mergott & Katherine Hirschoff; great-grandchild, Margaret Kinabrew; brothers, Ernest Hirschoff, Naples, FL & Otto Hirschoff, Lakeville, MN; and his devoted attendant, Lori Hendricks, Springbrook, WI. A memorial service will be held in early October during the week of the release of a book of his photographs and the opening of an exhibition of his photos at the Hennepin History Museum. Memorials preferred to the Macphail Center for the Arts, 1128 LaSalle Ave., Mpls., MN 55403 for the Edwin C. Hirschoff Fund.
